Water, water everywhere…

One trick I’ve learned when it comes to drinking enough water is this:  keep a 16 ounce bottle of water by your bedside each night.  (I drink Fiji water because that little square-ish bottle doesn’t look as big as most bottles.  It’s all about psyching yourself out!)  When you wake up in the morning, the very first thing you need to do is drink that entire bottle of water (it’s only 2 cups) before you do anything else.  If you are not already drinking eight cups of water a day – 8 cups – this will help in eliminating two cups right off the bat.  Those 64 ounces are a minimum requirement for a healthy body.

Research shows that people are often dehydrated when they first wake up.  Dehydration is a symptom in your body that can mimic hunger.  Often when you think you are hungry, you aren’t – you’re thirsty.  One trick to accelerated weight loss is to up your water intake but not so much you wash the nutrients & sodium out of your body.  We list book recommendations on our website, www.mylbdd.com (yes, a new link that’s easier to type).

Water is a body’s BEST friend.  I’ve heard people say, “OH I hate drinking water.”  Can I tell you that almost every one I’ve heard that from is very overweight?  Our body has to have water to function properly.  Trick yourself – lemon juice and a very little bit of sweetener (while I’m against chemicals, try a sprinkle of Sweet and Lo) makes it taste like lemonade.  Once you are used to drinking water, you will find you don’t want anything but plain, refreshing water.
