You’ve lost that loving feelin’….

…whoa oh, that lovin’ feeling…

So Alpha Hubby and I planned a nice romantic evening last night.  We both thought about it all day long and chatted about it during our lunch break.  We were gonna have BIG fun last night.

Yes, BIG fun.  Until THIS hussy got in between us (click on the picture):

Yes, my new toy got between my man and me.  It’s the Black & Decker Power Pro II Food Processor.  I’ve never had one before.  I did have a small 1 cup sized mini-chopper but it tended to puree more than it chopped.  This one chops up to SIX cups. And slices, dices, purees, and kneads bread.

Since I’m committed to eating healthy and our garden is beginning to produce and we’re gonna have loooots of squash, jalapenos, habaneras, and tomatoes, I had to do something!  I don’t want to spend my entire week chopping by hand – so I bought the hussy and brought her into the house.

It started out innocently enough – I had to make the rice for his lunch and we always put jalapenos or habanera peppers in it.  So before we waltzed off into the bedroom, I thought, “Why not go ahead and start the rice and see how well this chops the hot peppers?!”  And folks, that’s all she wrote.

We got so excited – not by one another – but by how wonderfully this new toy chopped… and chopped… and chopped.  We chopped red peppers, yellow peppers, green peppers, jalapeno peppers, and onions.  That wasn’t enough for greedy guts. No, he decided we needed to see how it chopped up the zucchini and squash.  Then I had to try it on the tomatoes.  It was AMAZING.  It is THE ultimate turn-on… umm, I mean time-saver.  Although that former isn’t far off… who doesn’t get excited about saving time?

The important thing about this?  By having all the fresh veggies chopped up in advance, I am more apt to eat a salad or just a pile of veggies tossed together with a light vinaigrette.  By having it pre-chopped, I don’t open the fridge one day and say, “What is that gelatinous mass in the bottom of the veggie bin?”  We’ve lost more fresh veggies and fruits than we’ve eaten.  Sometimes I felt I was buying veggies just to go home and throw them away.

Eating as healthy as possible is one of the most important changes I’ve made on this journey.  And if it means letting that hussy into our home… well, anything that works!
