Heaven Must Have Sent You

So you would think after the egg throwing incident, ETI, that there would be no way to talk mush about this Alpha Hubby I’m married to.  Ha!  I always wanna talk mush about him.  Our ETIs never last – usually not past 30 minutes or so.  Major mega fights morphed into ETIs a long time ago.  We learned back then that it is a humongous waste of time to stay angry at one another, especially since we know we’re gonna make up anyway.

I remember when we were first married, I was a touchy person – (HEY, I heard that bud, no comments from the Alpha Hubby section) – anyway, I was.  I think I was so afraid to let someone (a man) get the best of me or one-up me because it might give him power or make it seem I was less than a capable person.  Duh.  Yeah, I still had some issues.

There was the time when he was outside in the kiddy pool playing with Alpha Son.  I went out to watch and he thought it would be funny to splash me with water. I HATE being splashed with water – partly because of my contact lenses and partly because I don’t like looking like a drowned rat.  Oh my gosh, did I get a mad-on and stomp into the house.

Remember, we hadn’t been married that long (a few months).  He was so concerned he’d hurt me or wanted to make it better or something – who knows!?  It’s been so long since he felt that way (so super sensitive to my feelings [which is not a bad thing, i.e., no egg-shell walking for him]).  What he didn’t know was that by the time I hit the door to the kitchen, I realized what a bootie I was being and got over myself.

So when I realized he was chasing after me to make sure my poor little bitty self wasn’t hurt by the water – oh man I make myself sick with how sensitive I was back then – I decided the only way to make it right was to join in the fun.

I did the only thing I could do – I waited until he cleared the doorway into the kitchen and hit him full force in the body/face with a pitcher of water.

Don’t go feeling sorry for him – it helped him quickly realize I wasn’t a whiney baby sulk face and to laugh WITH me about both of us being soaking wet.  Ya just gotta pick your battles – especially if you can win them (hoho).  I am not stupid, I only pick battles I can win.

The thing about Alpha Hubby is that he is perfect for me.  He is able to deal with my quirks and josh me out of most of them.  I had a comment on the other post along the lines that she didn’t like that her husband would do something to make her laugh when she wanted to stay angry!  Yeah!  I can relate to that.  Nothing like ruining a good mad-on with laughter!

Like the lyrics of this song, every day there is something new to keep me loving him (although if there wasn’t, I’d still love him); he has brought so much joy in my life; he did teach me the meaning of giving unconditionally; a love like ours really is rare these days; and yes, I am so glad there is laughter in the eyes where tears used to be.

There is only one way such a perfect-for-me guy could be in my life.  A bonafide miracle from heaven.  No other explanation.

  1. I sure hope Alpha Hubby knows what a wonderful lady he has. You are, you know…..wonderful. I love your warmth and your wit. And I love it when you send me emails when you have something important to say to me. You are a friend that I’ve never met, but cherish.
And I loved the part about getting your “mad-on”. Sometimes that’s all that I want is to be mad until I’m not. Doesn’t happen often, though, because I’m in a good place in my life now. So are you. We are lucky my friend! HUGS

  3. What a great post! My Significant Other makes me laugh too when I’m mad. He knows there’s no way I’m staying angry if he makes me giggle. Thanks for reminding us that we “have to pick our battles.” I agree with you, in the beginning, we’re all really sensitive and quick to get angry at the silliest things. I’m still a bit sensitive, but I’ve “mellowed” out quite a bit! 🙂 Dropping by from the LBS!

  5. Funny that you posted this, I was just telling my hubby today that we are one of the happiest couples I know. And I was REAL sensitive in the beginning!

  7. When mine makes me laugh, the anger just melts away! God must have an assembly line up there – ’cause I could swear mine came from heaven, too. I bet if I connected the freckles, it would say, “Made in Heaven.”

I know what you mean about having to break patterns of mistrust. It was a long time before my mind knew what my heart knew all along – that he wasn’t going to walk out on me like my dad did my mom – that being mad at each other was o.k. – being mad still loves!

    I so love your posts:)

  11. That was totally unfair! You always cheat, no wonder I seldom win. To get a victory in this deal I have to defeat every trick you throw at me. I am a little slow, maybe not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to you. But yet defeat by you is still sweet! You defeat me then KISS me, whats with that?
