I know what you’re thinking – I’m redundant, all these mushy posts about my Alpha Hubby. I can’t help it. He is my soul mate. He is under the house right now working and he HATES small, tight places like under the house. Yet he does what needs to be done because it needs to be done. He does not procrastinate. But knowing he’s under there when he hates it? Makes my heart melt for him.
I love my Alpha Hubby. I do. It is beyond crazy how much I love this man. God gave him to me on my birthday and that means he can’t get away. He’s bona-fied!! (Name that movie.) He’ll have to take it up with God if things get too nutso for him with me.
Yes, that is what his life is like – always on his knees asking for help because he married me. Our life is like “The Hippie and The Cowboy“. When we met, I was far more laid back than he was. He was not laid back. At all. He was a hardnosed workalcoholic force of nature …umm let me see. He was a VERY serious man,
I read, a LOT! He doesn’t. He can watch the same movie every weekend; I like variety. I love fonk, R&B, jazz, and soul music. He can’t stand it. He is more of a country music fan The only thing I knew then about country music was what I’d heard for a couple of years on a jukebox in a restuarant I worked at in the early 80’s. We both agreed on oldies, though. That helps. You can do a lot of slow dancing in the kitchen to oldies!
And he has relaxed a LOT since we first met. I can’t say I’ve gotten more serious, though. Then again, the only thing I promised him when we got married was that he would have fun and laugh. I have kept my end of the bargain.
I know there are times I drive him up the wall -like, for instance, the open cabinet doors. I thought he was exaggerating but pictures don’t lie, especially before 8:00 in the morning!
He’s a pretty darn patient guy – perfect for me in so many ways. Like he told me the other day, no one else was gifted to be my husband like he was. Yeah, I agree – he’s the first guy I met that I couldn’t wrap around my little finger – and didn’t want to. Isn’t it funny how we do that – then when we CAN wrap someone, we don’t respect or like them anymore? Or am I the only shallow person here?
He’s a MAN with a capital M. He’s got the best (and worst) of the Alpha Man traits. And that is exactly what I needed – although sometimes, it tends to tick me off, anger me to no end test my own patience. I trust him with my life. He will never drop me. He protects my heart in ways I never knew were possible.
I am a very strong woman. I took care of myself for a long time and didn’t need no stankin’ man anyone to take care of me. Like he said, he liked me because while his personality is such that he might attempt to dominate me, he can’t. I fight back. Unfairly, hoho. Very, very unfairly. He is afraid of me. I think that’s why I get flowers… among other things. *Ahem* I was talking about support and love. What? What did you think I meant? OK yeah, you caught me – passion. Even better, romance.
He is pretty neat while I’m… not. Our couch is living proof – his side is neat, clean with no indication of who sits there. My side has pillows, blankies, a foot rest, face lotion on the side table; in short everything I need to nest there for awhile.
When we eat popcorn, I tend to spill a few pieces on the carpet. He constantly points out the popcorn when he sees it, picks it up and puts the pieces in the trash can. He doesn’t give me time to do it at the end of the evening when I’m getting ready to leave the living room. But don’t get the wrong idea – he picks it up because he loves me, not because he’s mean. It’s a thing we do. Like those open cabinet doors – that I now notice but sometimes leave open because it drives him crazy. Did I say that??
But I have my ways of getting even. I noticed two little tiny pieces of popcorn on the carpet on his side the other day. He hadn’t seen them. I noticed I had about 8 tiny pieces on my side so I picked them all up and put them on his side. Yes!! I felt vindicated. I mean, it wasn’t like he didn’t have some on his side already that he’d missed while nit-picking about the ones on my side! Sure they were hard to see (until I got finished putting mine there). He was very confused. Didn’t know how he’d missed them.
I think the dominate gene comes naturally for an Alpha Man. They don’t even know they are doing it, they just do. Sometimes with wonderful results (sex) and sometimes I want to pinch his head off sit him down and explain the concept of… of… oh shoot, I forgot he reads this blog.
Let me see how I can delicately put this. Sometimes Alpha Men need to realize that the female of the species can contribute relevant information to the pack. Yeah, that’s it. I have things to say, bub. Things to be listened to and given respect even if you can’t use the information! But isn’t it amazing how many times I’m right?? And it’s rarely acknowledged? Hmm? Oh, OK. He is right many times. More so than me. It really gets irritating.
Ya just gotta love an Alpha Man . At least, I do! And I do!!
** Oh OK, yes I told him about the popcorn. Later that evening. Heh heh heh. Ve haff our vays!!
I enjoyed your post very much. The husband and I resemble some of you and your Alpha Hubby. You can call us the Hippie and the Hippie Who Hangs Up His Clothes. :-)n
You guys are incredible. As my kids would say “get a room!” :-)nnI married a strong man too – throw his Italian genes into the mix and we can really butt heads sometimes. All good though, as I knew from an early age that I needed a man strong enough to cope with me – and we can see the same will be needed for our strong daughter.
Aww, I just love this post. It’s so funny because it’s so real and true. So happy to know someone else believes in soul mates, too. I married mine as well. He’s the alpha hubby, too. I used to worry that I let him take care of me too much because I feel that I am such a strong, independent woman. I didn’t want to become dependent on a man, even if he is such a good one. But I realize that we can still be the strong woman, but it’s nice to have someone to keep you from getting overwhelmed by life.rnrnFor our Hare Tribe today we are supposed to give a compliment. Since I forgot to tell you from the beginning, your blog title is probably my favorite of all the blogs I have ever seen. Love it!
I’m sorry – I just finished laughing or I would have said something sooner! I think it is GREAT that you guy have hot ahem like that – I think you should join a few of us for 30 Days of Intimacy – I’ll see if I have your email and send you details.rnrnI am always glad to hear of couples who love, like and lust after one another!
That’s so cute! Opposites definately attract!
She is an Alpha Woman disguised as Little Red Riding Hood. It took a while but I caught on. Well, maybe it was a long time before I caught on. I just thought that I should walk with her for a ways through those spooky ole woods. After all I am spookier than anything in the woods!
It’s such a gift to have an awesome husband! I have one of those too and I adore him.
So sweet and amazing! It really sounds like you have a wonderful man!nnAnd totally off topic, you have the only blog with music that I love to read. You always have great songs playing!
(Sigh) You two are so sweet. It’s adorable. I’m glad you have such a blessed marriage. It’s always easier to work through the hard stuff when you’re with the right Man.nnI know all about that strong willed Alpha Hubby stuff. I would say my hubby and I are both equally dominant and bossy and we both fight unfairly so we balance each other out. Lets just say that some of the hottest, ahem, lovin’ we’ve made is due to trying to boss each other around while doing a ‘group” activity like washing dishes or moving furniture. There is something so HOT about not being able to push my Hubby around. (Fans self) I don’t know if anyone else is like that. Maybe we are defective, but it works for us!nnI hope that wasn’t TMI. Keep up the good work on your marriage! It’s wonderful to see two people so dedicated to each other.
I love the pictures, the tango, the suit and flowers and that is my favorite Robreta Flack song, ever! I hope you know how lucky you are.
I’m smiling. It’s really cool how much you guys adore each other, after 16 yr & 7 mo 🙂 I’ve only gotten to adore mine for 9.nnI could cry for the time we haven’t had if I think about it, at the relatively short number of years we will have each other. If I could have spent every day of my life with him, I would. I would not miss a breath. And right now he’s in India for 2 weeks dangit :)nnThis was not a funny comment, I know, and as you nave notice, I can occasionally be funny. Y’all just make me a little sentimental.

Oh my! Thank goodness for Alpha Males!
